What a great little team our U12 Shamrocks Celtic lads are. They battled like warriors from the first game of the league and never gave up. A hotly contested U12 league this year where a number of teams were in contention right up to this evenings game.
A great crowd of supporters from both sides to support their teams on the night for the league decider where the winner took all.
It was a great game of football from both sides, and it was even spills at half time with no goals to separate the sides.
It was a through ball from James Clarke Kane to put Erik Palomo in on goal to get the crucial first goal of the second half. The Shamrocks lads never gave up, and every player on the pitch gave it 110% effort.
Shamrocks were rewarded for their excellent defending by Rhys Mackin and James Gregory O'Gorman and, through chasing that second goal, got awarded a free kick about 25yds out. Kaylem Thornton stepped up, and under pressure, he took a superb strike and finished in top bin to make it 2-0 with 15 mins left on the clock.
The Shamrocks midfielders worked tirelessly, breaking down any Rock attack until the final whistle went and the lads took the win on the night, and the U12 DSBL Premier league title.
It is an incredible achievement for this group of players. They have worked so hard all year and have progressed to a really competitive level with other teams in the league and put an impressive run of 8 games unbeaten to put them in a position to take the title.
Commiserations to the Rock lads this evening, a great bunch of lads that set the standard early in the season for all other teams in the league to chase this year.
Well done to all players and coaches involved in this evenings game.
